Living with and beyond Cancer

Everyone’s experience of cancer is unique but there are a range of support services and information available to help you, your family and friends at this difficult time:

For non-medical concerns or worries, it might be useful to make an appointment with the practice Social Prescriber who, if they can’t directly help, may be able to refer you to someone who can. They might put you in touch with the Macmillan Community Cancer Link Worker for Wandsworth (Hannah Jackson) who can provide a listening ear to you or your carer, helping to address any worries or concerns, and signpost or refer to local and national support. The service is here to support you at any point during the cancer pathway – at diagnosis, through treatment and beyond.

Macmillan Cancer Support also offer direct services that you might find useful.

Macmillan’s Support Line is open 7 days a week and offers confidential support to people living with cancer and their loved ones. If you are worried about money, work or treatment, or you just want to speak about whatever matters to you, you can call free on 0808 808 0000

Support is also available via the Macmillan online community - information can be found at Macmillan Cancer Support or sign up for support at Macmillan Support after diagnosis

It’s been proven that taking part in physical activity during and after cancer treatment is safe and has many long term benefits. This includes reducing consequences of treatment, such as fatigue and the risk of developing other conditions such as osteoporosis and diabetes. Lots of people also tell us that physical activity helps them take back control and feel more like their old self.
