We offer between 14 –18 GP sessions daily and these are bookable 4 – 6 weeks in advance. Appointments are can be booked either online, by telephoning the practice or coming into the practice and booking with a receptionist. Please ask the receptionist for details on how to register to book online appointments.
Advance/future telephone appointments
We offer between two telephone slots in each GP sessions per day and these are bookable up to 4 – 6 weeks in advance.
Next or Same Day appointments
In each of our GP sessions there are about 4 - 6 appointments kept for Next or Same Day booking. These appointments can be booked either online once our telephone lines close from 6.30pm the previous day or by telephoning at 8.00am once our telephone lines re-open. These appointment types are both for Routine and urgent problems. Please note : These are a limited number of appointments.
HOW OUR APPOINTMENT SYSTEM WORKS
Once our face to face quota for the day is filled we offer 90 telephone appointments during the day with a duty doctor who will triage your issue and decide what treatment is best for you, this could include, medication, face to face same day or future appointments.
When booking a telephone consultation with the Doctor please let the receptionist know the nature of the call and the best telephone number to ring you on. It is difficult to set an exact time for the return call but we aim for it to be within that session (AM sessions operate from 9.00 to 13.00, and PM from 13.00 to 18.30) The majority of the time the GP will be able to treat you appropriately via a Telephone Consultation but if they feel you need to be seen they have reserved appointments they can offer you to come in.
PLEASE NOTE : Prescriptions requests will not be taken over the telephone.
EXPECTATIONS ON NEXT AVAILABLE APPOINTMENT
If you do not mind which GP you see, then we aim to get you an appointment within 7 working days. However if you prefer to book with a specific named GP there may be an increased waiting time. This is because many of our GPs work part time and do not always have availability on the day.
For continuity of care, all patients are allocated to a team of regular doctors – it would be helpful if you book appointments with one of the doctors in your team. Reception can help you understand which doctors are in your team.
TYPES OF APPOINTMENTS
We have two types of appointments. Face to face appointments and telephone appointments. Consultations are based on 10 minute intervals. If you have more than 2 problems or significantly overrun on your allocated appointment time, the doctor may ask you to make a follow up appointment.
